I am a native of Nashville, TN, USA, and, a 41 year old married mother of 3. When I’m not working as a nurse in the healthcare industry, I can be found doing laundry. In the unlikely event, that I’m doing neither of those activities, I remain on the quest for the perfect purse.
I have been blogging since January, 2003. Prior to that, I had been dabbling in maintaining the ubiquitous “home page”, but, who knew something called “Geocities” would be so unfulfilling? I kept hearing about this “blogging” thing on the news, and, because I don’t like not knowing how to do something, I followed a link to Blogger.com (OK, OK, I know, I was new…), and, thought, “Hey, I can do that…”. After trying eleventy-million combinations in an attempt to find a user name that wasn’t taken, I settled on “Busy Mom”. I had no idea that name would continue to follow me years later, as I maintain my personal blog at Busymom.net.
Since my other identity is the “Sandwich Generation Poster Child”, I come to you as the author of b5 Media’s GenBetween.com. My qualifications for this position: I work full-time outside the home, I have young children (ages 11,9, and, 4), and, my mother is terminally ill with lung cancer. My father, though in good health, is not getting any younger at the age of 73. I am also an only child who is the daughter and granddaughter of only children, so, I have no extended family.
Though I don’t have all the answers how to care for aging parents and young children at the same time, I’ll share the things I’ve learned along the way, and, I look forward to learning from you, too.
